"So that's all there is to it? Just believe in Jesus?" Well, yes...and no. Yes, that is all you need to "do" to receive salvation, because there is nothing else you CAN do to achieve, earn, or merit it. The Bible is clear on that: But that's certainly not all there is to it. But all that is necessary to bring you salvation has already been done, by Jesus. When you believe in Him, you are taking the first step into a huge and marvelous adventure. He invites you to share in His joy and be in relationship with Him! You know, it's worth mentioning here that oftentimes we get accused of teaching that we just say a quick prayer, say "I believe in Jesus" and then that frees us to go live like the devil if we want. This is completely FALSE. Not only that, it's absurd, and it's a horrifying idea to someone who truly loves and trusts in Jesus Christ. Are we forgiven, completely and thoroughly? Absolutely. But does this give us freedom to sin? By no means. Jesus came to deliver us FROM our sin, not deliver us INTO sin. So if you've ever thought that's what we teach, just get that nonsense out of your head right now.
